Over due update

Wow, this blog is in serious need of some attention. Facebook has become the new way of connecting with the outside world and our family blog has been really neglected. Since over a year has gone by without any updates, I will spare you all the details and just let you know what is going on currently.

We are all soooo ready for summer. What the heck is up with this crazy Utah weather? June is almost here and it still feels like April. It is time for some sunshine and outdoor fun!
Two weeks ago we finally went ATVing for the first time this year. We headed out to Delle to ride on the salt flats and fun hills that we love so much. By March or April we have always gone out there and found very little mud. This year, oh boy - can you say chocolate cake batter? What a yucky mess! We went out with our neighbors and 4 of the 6 ATV's got stuck out on the normally dry salt flats. Only the 4x4 machines made it out with out much pushing and sliding around. A couple of the quads had so much mud under the fenders that the tires were rubbing on the mud. We found sticks and scraped off as much as we could - the worst of the cleanup was done at home that night. Muddy everything - oh well, it was a fun day anyway!

Bryan will be home from his mission in 4 months and 3 weeks, but who is counting? He is doing awesome, and loving all of the wonderful experiences he his having. He is currently serving right next to Virginia Tech University. The people are wonderful and he has learned and grown so much. We can't wait for him to come home, we all miss him so much. The time has really gone by quickly - thank goodness. He will be home on October 20th.
Erika is finishing up her Junior year at Davis, and Justin is almost done with 7th grade. Yeah, another year down and summer is almost here! We plan to spend lots of time at the lake this summer. Hopefully summer sticks around a while, Bryan wants to wakeboard when he gets home. Thank goodness for wetsuits!

Les is in the process of painting our garage. He has wanted nice white walls ever since we built our house. Hopefully in a couple of weeks the project will be complete - floor and all!

Lori is almost back to normal after her broken leg. That major wipe out skiing really messed things up. What a long spring this has been! Thank goodness for modern medicine and the titanium rod that put the tibia back together so nicely. That beautiful hunk of metal cut the rehab time down by weeks. In 8 weeks I was back in a shoe and did the 5K Race for the Cure, only slightly gimpy. OK, maybe a little more than slightly gimpy by the end, but I finished! My doctor says that by July I can waterski - I can't wait. By ski season I will be good as new!

Ok, that was the short story. Hopefully updates will come a little more regularly in the future. Not promising anything, just sayin'

Awesome Christmas!

It is hard to believe that the holidays are over and it is time to head back to work and school. Our family had a great Christmas, made even better by the phone call from Bryan. We were able to talk to him for an hour and a half, and were sad to have to say goodbye! He is loving his mission and the people of Virginia. He as had one baptism, and has truly dedicated himself to serving the Lord. It was so neat to hear his voice and feel of his excitement for the gospel and missionary work.

The members had he and his companion over for Christmas Eve and two families had them over on Christmas day. Having him gone for Christmas was made much easier because of the sweet members who opened their hearts and homes to him.

Focusing on the true meaning of Christmas was much easier with a missionary in the field. Keeping Christ as our focal point throught the new year will be our goal. Having Bryan serve his mission has truly helped us all remember the real meaning of life!

Erika's First Date

Last weekend Erika went out on her very first date with her friend Mike. We tried to change the legal dating age to 18, but she wouldn't go for that. It's hard to believe that she is 16 now and will soon have her Driver's License too. Wow, our little girl is growing up way too fast!

She is taking Mike to the Halloween dance on Saturday night with a fun group of kids. Only big group dating for our little girl - hopefully until she is at least 21!!!

Bryan enters the MTC!!!

We took Bryan to the MTC last Wednesday, October 15th. It was difficult to say goodbye for 2 years, but we all know that he is where the Lord wants him to be. The spirit in the MTC was so strong, and all of the people there were so helpful and wonderful.

Bryan has sent us 2 letters so far, and they both have been filled with so much enthusiasm and love for Missionary work. His testimony has grown so much already, and he has an awesome companion. He hasn't had time to feel too homesick, and is loving every minute of his MTC experience.

We are adjusting to life at home without his lively, crazy sense of humor, and are so grateful for his willingness to serve our Heavenly Father!
